Tools & Materials:

Some tools and materials are easily found at a hardware store, but chances are good you will have trouble tracking down some of the more specialized items locally. If you live near the water you may be able to find a boating supply chandlery, but you may have to resort to mail order sources for some of the more obscure things.
Several companies now offer high quality kits including all the materials to build strip-planked boats and if you don’t have all the tools to mill your own strips, you can find sources who will mill them for you. You could probably get a local cabinet shop to mill you strips, but be sure you order enough on the first run, because they may not want to do again.

Books:

Strip-planking has been around for a while now and there are several good books available on the subject. While this book attempts to be comprehensive, you will probably be well served by getting some alternate ideas from some of the other books.
If you are a novice woodworker, there are good books about using hand tools and making them sharp that go into more detail than is permitted by the scope of this book.
